WHO AM I?

My name is Mehrdad Naderi. I am an IT expert, teacher, speaker, consultant, and entrepreneur. Since 2006, I have been actively involved in teaching software programming. So far, I have had over 13,000 hours of professional teaching. I have received dozens of national and international certificates and awards from distinguishing institutes, universities, and companies from around the world.

Stage 1

The first stage is about the time I decided to leave high school at the age of fifteen. Although the school I was studying at was one of the best schools in my city, I was determined to do so because its educational system, similar to that of all other schools, was inefficient, as they used ONE system for different students with various mental and physical abilities, which was not logical to me, and I had recognized it early on. Despite having been a hard-working and clever student, I was about to undergo an academic failure because I could not spend about 10 hours a day with other students whose pace of learning, physical conditions, and sleep habits were different from mine. The classes and activities were either boring for me because I was sharper than the other students in some fields, or they were confusing for me because I was not as good as they were in some others. My decision to leave high school was considered as a disaster by my parents; however, I knew that I was escaping from a mechanical system, which would surely ruin any individual’s creative mind. Having continued my education on a self-study basis and having received my degrees with great scores, today, I can look back and say that I am satisfied with the decision I made, because I am much more successful than my peers both academically and financially. This stage of my life became the first stepping-stone toward a new, efficient, and productive educational system that provides every single student with tailor-made, unique courses and approaches of learning via a software application, using artificial intelligence and machine learning. After meticulously analyzing students’ behaviors and habits, their mental and physical abilities, and their educational goals, this software system, Naprolity, can provide each and every student with a different educational program and content suitable for his or her individual needs. In this system, students’ information will be gathered through personal declaration, their electronic gadgets, as well as their smartphones and social media, and then an AI-based application will receive this information as inputs, analyze them, and finally create a unique content and program for each person. The more data the application receives from a user, using machine learning, the more optimized and productive it will become for that person, so much so that, if the user wants to acquire a new skill or knowledge, he or she will certainly have access to a specifically-designed “institute” for him or her.

Stage 2

The second stage has to do with the time I decided to learn English. I went to different institutes whose registration processes were all the same. All of them gave a placement test, and then without a correct, exact analysis, they determined my English proficiency. Their placement tests had two deficiencies: first, they failed to check all aspects of my knowledge, because there were quite a few things on the test that I didn’t know, and quite a few things that I knew but they were not on the test. Second, they could not precisely analyze my knowledge in a certain and brief period of time, because they did not consider the factors which could influence my physical and mental conditions at that moment, such as headaches, nausea, stress, as well as lack of attention, sleep, and confidence, etc. Because of these inefficient placement tests, I usually attended classes in which the level of students were not harmonious. Consequently, in every session, similar to other students, I experienced one of the following: If I already knew the information being taught by the teacher, the class would become boring for me. If I did not know the information, and it was slightly higher than my level, I would enjoy the class. And, if I did not know the information and its pre-requisites or if it was too difficult for me to learn, the class would be confusing for me. I understood that the level of my knowledge in different sections of English was level “n” for example; therefore, I needed to learn “n + 1”. If the teacher taught me level “n - 1”, the class would become boring for me, and, if the teacher taught me level “n + 2”, the class would become confusing for me. The further this plus or minus number got from the level of my knowledge, the more difficult and torturous the learning would become for me. Later, while doing the TESOL course offered by Arizona State University, under the supervision of their distinguished professors, I had even a deeper understanding of this issue. This problem is not simply limited to learning English; I had already experienced it while learning physics, mathematics, and even music. Some may claim that there are no such problems in private classes. However, I believe that, even in private classes, in which tutors can better determine students’ levels, we can witness that the classes are not productive enough, because no teacher can distinguish and constantly supervise all the parameters involved in productive learning such as students’ attention span, personal mood, and other physical and mental conditions. Therefore, unlike superficial placement tests in public or even private classes, in my new educational system, the application will constantly and meticulously analyze the students’ knowledge, performance, behaviors, habits, personal moods, and attention span, to name but a few. For instance, in language learning, while a person is taking a grammar test, the application will check their knowledge of vocabulary as well without their knowing it. These analyses will not be limited to checking the users’ language proficiency. Rather, it is important that the system check whether or not the user has learned how to learn. For example, if the system recognizes that the user is slow at reading the questions, it will easily equip him or her with the skill of fast reading, using interesting tools. The system will also ask for temporary or constant permission, as the user desires, to have access to the users’ email servers and social media applications so that it can meticulously analyze the users’ grammar and vocabulary in order to constantly recognize their mistakes and provide them with the most appropriate and productive material to be studied.

Stage 3

Having taken part in public and private classes, during the third stage of my educational life, I started to try self-study and online courses to improve my English when I found myself inundated with quite a bit of information. Here, in order to acquire complete and relevant knowledge, which I already mentioned as ‘n + 1’, I had to go through miscellaneous sources and a big mass of irrelevant data. This event inspired me to come up with a new theory, Productive Reality, which is abbreviated as PR. You have already heard about Augmented Reality, which is about adding something to reality, and Virtual Reality, which is about the virtual world that substitutes the real world. My theory, Productive Reality, aims at trimming all the extra information from the real world, thereby making a productive world for all people in general and students in particular. In fact, unlike AR theory, which adds something to the real world, PR theory removes extra things from the real world and provides the user with the most necessary information rather than all the data available to him or her. Based on this theory, I came up with two ideas as TrimLan and TrimYourCode for learning Foreign Languages and Programming Languages, respectively, which are now the first and the second phases of Naprolity.

Stage 4

The fourth stage of my educational life goes back to some years ago when I wanted to apply to a university in the USA, for which I needed to have a high TOEFL score. Since I had only two months for preparation, which was quite short for such an exam, I did not really know what to do. When I checked the reference materials, I faced many voluminous books and other resources, each of which would approximately take six months to study. Although I had a good command of English, I had no idea which book to read, where to start, how to read them, and so forth. On the Internet, there were many programs available for TOEFL candidates, but I needed an appropriate path based on my limited time, my mental and physical conditions, my previous English knowledge, and other influential factors. Eventually, I randomly started to study some materials, the result of which was quite predictable – I could not prepare for the exam and did not even bother attending it. Then, I wished there had been a system that could already analyze my English knowledge, my weak points and strong points in learning English, as well as my physical and mental abilities and habits in this regard so that it would provide me with the most productive learning program to prepare me for that TOEFL test. For example, considering that I had only two months before the exam and that I could spend only ten hours a week studying for it, I wished the system would have a program which would take into consideration whatever amount of time I was able to study and determine the most important vocabulary and grammar to be studied based on my limited time, my background in English, and my other physical and mental factors, so that I would be able to achieve the highest score possible in the exam. The system would also be expected to warn me if I neglected to study my lessons and to teach me the necessary skills of how to learn if I had trouble doing so, for instance through memory-enhancing techniques.

Stage 5

The fifth stage of my life deals with productivity, which has been very important to me since I was an adolescent. My thirst for acquiring knowledge in an optimal and quick manner resulted in my taking part in many productivity courses such as Fast Reading, Memory Enhancement, Learning How to Learn, and Time Management. I learned three important things from these courses: first, all people who want to learn something new, regardless of their age, gender, and educational status, need to acquire some skills, the most important of which is productivity. Learning these skills does not call for attending ordinary, long-term courses. Rather, many of them can be gained subconsciously through playing certain games and using some innovative techniques, which will be perfectly provided through the Naprolity application. Second, small tasks, which are the tasks people can do when they have a short period of time waiting for a bus or train in a station, riding in a taxi, waiting for a restaurant order, even waiting for their flights in the airport, etc. are of great importance. Our lives are replete with many free moments throughout which we can enhance our knowledge, develop our skills, and acquire new ones. This issue will be even more significant in the next decades when robots have replaced humans to do routine tasks such as collecting garbage, baking bread, and even doing surgeries. This will be the time when many people will become jobless if they do not constantly acquire new skills; in the long term, these are the SMALL TASKS which can guarantee people’s career success and unbelievable, eye-catching progress in their lives. Once again, it is the Naprolity application that can recognize any individual’s short free time and provide the smartest and most productive small tasks for them. The third and most important thing that I learned from these productivity courses was that every individual has a different approach to learning. For example, in order to learn new words in any language, some learn better through their ears, while others learn better through their eyes. Even the people who learn through their eyes can be categorized as those who learn faster from either videos or pictures. The ones who learn from pictures are again divided into more categories: some people learn better from comic pictures, while others learn better from real images. This diversity of learning styles creates a vast “tree structure,” and all individuals, depending on the best method of learning for each of them, fall into different branches of this “tree structure.” In Naprolity, specialists, using co-creation, will create the most suitable content for each branch of the “tree structure,” and artificial intelligence will recognize the best method of learning and the most appropriate content for each individual. Determining the best method of learning for every individual and providing them with the most appropriate content is of great consequence, helping the learner to learn in a deeper, faster, easier, and more “memory-friendly” way.
Based on what was already mentioned and based on what is anticipated, about a decade from now, while people are in their autonomous cars moving from one place to another, they will have much free time to do two things. They can either aimlessly play games and have some form of entertainment, using their electronic gadgets, or they can learn something new and enhance their skills, using the “Naprolity” system. As I clearly mentioned before, Naprolity is not just a software application; it is a new, innovative, and revolutionary educational system. I will later introduce the tools, electronic gadgets, robots, and other applications to be used in this educational system. I do believe that Naprolity, not only as a software and hardware system but also as a world-changing theory, will eradicate the present educational system and replace it in the near future.

Stage 6

The sixth stage has to do with the time I was studying programming, doing my internship, working as a freelancer, and teaching English and software programming. Throughout these years, I, as well as many of my students and colleagues, encountered many problems, with which we could not cope on our own. For example, when I was a student, I had some questions for whose answers I did not need to attend a complete course. Rather, I just needed a specialist to solve my problem immediately. Also, as an intern, freelancer, and teacher, I encountered many problems whose answers could not be found on the Internet, and there was nobody to help me. These disasters really put my business and my reputation on the line. While I was planning the last phases of developing Naprolity, I came up with a system through which students, freelancers, novice employees, teachers, and even specialists would be able to pose their questions or ask for consultations. To help the clients, Naprolity is supposed to have many specialists from among its clients and employees whose knowledge and proficiency have already been assessed through Naprolity criteria, using AI tools. Each specialist will be available part-time to answer the questions and share his or her experiences with other clients; therefore, the clients will have access to specialists 24/7. This approach not only benefits the clients who come for help, but it also has two gains for the specialists who solve the problems of those clients: first, these specialists can work part-time and make some passive income. Not only will the specialists receive money for the first time they give answers to a specific question, but they will also gain money anytime the same question is asked by other people. Their answers will remain in the system, and each specialist will be the beneficiary of the profits gained through his or her answers. Secondly, the responses the specialists give can be considered as credits that benefit them through another professional AI-based system, which will be elaborated upon later.

Stage 7

The seventh stage is related to the time when I became the CEO of SupEx institute and wanted to hire some experts. The interviewees provided their university degrees, certificates, resumes, and LinkedIn profiles as evidence to show their level of knowledge and abilities. After a while, however, I realized that university degrees and certificates are not precise criteria to show people’s expertise. University degrees are supposed to depict a graduate’s level of knowledge in a field. However, in the majority of cases, the knowledge of graduates with the same degrees but from different universities is not the same whatsoever. Even the scientific achievements and skills of graduates with the same degrees from the same university are quite different from one another, mainly because their mental abilities, efforts, and learning methods are not the same at all. Therefore, it is ridiculous to hire someone based on his or her university degrees and certificates. Similarly, I realized that people’s resumes and LinkedIn profiles cannot depict their real abilities and level of knowledge either, because they may exaggerate or lie about their abilities, knowledge, and skills; they may have received unreliable endorsements from others; and they cannot convince the employer how much expertise they exactly have, for example when they claim they have some years of work experience in a field. These sources, which are supposed to show a person’s expertise, are really vague and do not show the exact realm of their knowledge and abilities. To solve this problem, Naprolity, in its last phases, will precisely determine the scope of the specialists’ knowledge and expertise, and will give them credits accordingly, such that it can create a real, reliable resume for them. This can be done based on Naprolity’s analytical results from people’s knowledge, skills, behaviors, as well as mental and physical abilities using artificial intelligence and based on the contributions they have had through co-creating contents, answering questions, providing consultations, and other ways for presenting their abilities.

Conclusion

In conclusion, based on all the aforementioned stages and their results, I am working on Naprolity, an international startup, based on artificial intelligence and machine learning, which aims at providing every single individual with a unique educational approach based on his or her physical and mental abilities. By supervising a client’s use of software applications and hardware devices, Naprolity can provide him or her with the most productive, interesting, and personalized educational program. To make Naprolity the most efficient educational system, a supportive communicational tool will create a link between the clients and experts so that they can exchange their experiences, answer each other’s questions, and help each other to cope with any problems they may have. In the short term, Naprolity plans to implement and continue the aforementioned approaches until the beginning of 2030. The first phase, which I called TrimLan, will be for learning languages, using artificial intelligence and the Naprolity system. The first step of TrimLan phase will be optimizing vocabulary learning for people who want to take the TOEFL and IELTS exams, both of which test the English-level of non-native speakers who want to enter many countries and universities all over the world. The second step would be learning grammar for TOEFL and IELTS. The reasons why I chose TOEFL and IELTS for the first steps is that I am completely familiar with the two exams and have access to the best experts in these fields. In the next steps, the Naprolity system will be employed not only for learning other exams and aspects of the English language, but also for learning all skills of other languages. After the first steps bear fruit, Naprolity will develop in other fields so much so that all fields, from liberal arts to science and engineering, will be covered.

Vision

After many years of collecting data using the Naprolity system, we will have the most comprehensive, precise, realistic, and analytical information, with the help of which we can imagine great visions and objectives for the future. For instance, one of the long term objectives of Naprolity will be to completely revolutionize or even replace the present educational system. I anticipate that it will happen before 2050. In the next decades, all the Naprolity clients will have exact, realistic resumes that show all their skills and abilities, the information of which will be the result of having constantly supervised their educational and career life for many years. Take, for instance, the parents who will enroll their children in Naprolity from early childhood. By doing so, Naprolity will have access to the most comprehensive data possible so much so that companies will no longer want people’s resumes, IELTS or TOEFL scores, degrees, and certificates, to name but a few. What they will prefer will be their Naprolity account data in order to have the most precise analyses of that person to decide whether or not that person is qualified. I do believe that people of all countries will be interested in our educational system, because the world is developing rapidly, and people need to educate themselves and their children in the most productive way.
This startup has many long-term visions which will be implemented throughout different phases, some of which were already mentioned and some others will be announced in the near future. However, the first step of phase 1 of the Naprolity system, TrimLan, will be implemented very fast, whose first successful product will be introduced to the market and can reach the stage of earning revenue very quickly.
